New trees, hedges of native species, and wildflower meadows help define the outer reaches of a more formal garden merging it gently into the surrounding countryside.
Rivers of local gravel offset the low-maintenance planting of this barn-conversion garden which opens out into a small meadow with mown paths, new trees, and a kitchen garden with raised beds and a greenhouse.
The modern classic formality of this garden for a new executive home gradually evolves into the informal naturalism of new woods, hedges and wildflower meadows. Contemporary sculpture is featured throughout and an orchard and a small lake are currently being added.
A hillside garden for an old manor house in an area designated 'of outstanding natural beauty', the layout here makes full use of the wonderful country views.
The mineral-rich clay soil of this plantsman's garden on the Lot and Dordogne Borders allows a profusion of plants and trees to thrive, attracting artists and plant-lovers alike.
This small walled garden was transformed into a secluded oasis of tranquility for a busy young family.
New stonework by local craftsmen forms terraced beds on this steep site, whilst access to the house and 'dependances' is by an attractively detailed slope allowing easy access. The beds were later edged with Box and filled with a profusion of pale roses.
What was required here was to create a garden from an already rich site by selecting and revealing the hidden features. Pathways were created and Mediterranean palm, wild olive and myrtle rescued from choking undergrowth. Clearings were defined to showcase beautiful boulders and a hidden stream.
Appropriate seating was placed for the enjoyment of the stunning views.
